If you call yourself an American English movie buff and you haven’t watched “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” then you’re missing out, my friend! This romantic comedy, released back in February 2003, stars the lovely Kate Hudson and the charming Matthew McConaughey.
Hudson plays Andie Anderson, a magazine columnist who decides to write an article titled “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)” as a tribute to her recently dumped friend, Michelle Rubin, played by Kathryn Hahn. The article explores the typical behaviors that drive men away in relationships. Andie chooses advertising executive Ben Barry, played by McConaughey, as her guinea pig. Interestingly enough, Ben has made a bet with his coworkers that he can make any woman fall in love with him within the same timeframe of 10 days.

The movie became a big hit, earning over $177 million at the box office. It also featured talented actors like Annie Parisse, Thomas Lennon, and Bebe Neuwirth.
Kate Hudson, who happens to be Goldie Hawn’s daughter and Kurt Russell’s stepdaughter, reflected on her experience making “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” In an interview with Elle, she mentioned that it was a different era of moviemaking. She and McConaughey belonged to one of the last generations of actors who truly experienced the old-school Hollywood process. They spent four months together on this film and even six months shooting their 2008 romantic comedy “Fool’s Gold.” Nowadays, you don’t often see movies with that kind of duration, except for maybe Marvel films.
Hudson even pitched an idea for a potential sequel to “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” She mused about what Andie and Ben’s characters would be like now if they were still together. According to her, enough time has passed for a movie exploring their lives after marriage and kids. Andie was an ambitious woman, and Hudson imagines her running something significant by this point.
Apart from the possibility of a sequel, Hudson has maintained close relationships with her co-stars. She posted a picture with Kathryn Hahn, her bestie, on Instagram, expressing her love and excitement about being reunited. And guess what? They starred together in another movie called “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” in 2022. Hahn joked about their friendship, referring to the famous love fern from “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” She also admired Hudson’s talent and success in “Glass Onion.”
